Montà was founded in 2025 as a contemporary unisex footwear brand rooted in the landscapes and cultural heritage of the Alps. The name Montà, from a Piedmontese Alpine dialect, refers to the annual ascent of cattle across mountain pastures – a ritual that reflects the brand’s values of humility, resilience, and harmony with nature. 

Inspired by Alpine life and the artists and thinkers who sought sanctuary in its mountains, Montà reinterprets traditional workwear shoes through a modern, refined lens. At its core lies the Haferl shoe, a centuries-old utilitarian design reimagined with sculptural minimalism and unisex appeal. Each collection includes a range of silhouettes, from clogs and slip-ons to boots and moccasins, designed to balance durability, comfort, and understated luxury.

Leading Montà’s design vision is Romain Kremer, celebrated for combining futurism, craftsmanship, and emotional clarity. All shoes are produced by Schwangau Schuh GmbH in Hungary, a region with a rich artisanal shoemaking history, where skilled artisans apply traditional double-stitched construction to ensure longevity and reparability. Premium materials, including full-grain Alpine bovine hides from Germany, Vibram® outsoles, and select models featuring premium leather soles with a metal toe plate, are sourced in Europe with short, traceable supply chains to uphold the highest standards of quality.
